pelisse

of ivory silk taffeta, with narrow sleeves set well into the back of the coat, fine pleating below the back bodice panel, the edges and back panel embroidere 1795 http://www.meg-andrews.com

The Pelisse can be a confusing term because there were several forms over a 50 year period. The first form of pelisse worn from 1800 to 1810 was an empire line coat like garment to the hip or knee.

After 1810 it was worn full length and was a warmer longer sleeved coat than the Spencer, but often made of the same materials. A LOT OF INFORMATION !!!..look at http://www.fashion-era.com/Coats_history/pelisse_history_1.htm

regency child's dress 1810

The cotton dress is roller printed with alternating stripes of brown and blue leaf patterns. The sleeves and hem are edged with Van Dyke points of plain ivory cotton. This is an enormous amount of work since everything was sewn by hand.

The invention of roller printing on textiles revolutionized fashion. It became possible to inexpensively produce multicolored patterns with fine lines and seamless joins, replacing hand-blocked prints affordable only by the wealthy. Early roller print designs are treasured today by collectors.

The fullness of the Empire bodice can be adjusted with the cords inserted into casings. The dress has back sash ties. Everything is completely hand stitched http://vintagetextile.com

regency child's dress 1820

The cotton dress is roller printed with a pattern of alternating foliate stripes. The cheerful combination of mustard, turkey red, and ivory is perfect for a little princess. The fullness of the bodice can be adjusted with cords inserted into casings. This feature also allowed room for the child to grow. http://vintagetextile.com
